What are the differences between people who engage in long-term aerobic exercise and those who engage in strength training?
Fitness can be roughly divided into aerobic exercise and strength training. Strength training mainly exercises muscles and involves non-sustainable anaerobic exercise, such as dumbbell and barbell training, sprinting, push-ups, pull-ups, high jump and long jump training, etc. On the other hand, aerobic exercise is sustainable and mainly relies on aerobic metabolism. Fitness activities such as jogging, jumping jacks, cycling, playing sports, swimming, and mountain climbing are examples of aerobic exercise.
What are the differences between people who engage in long-term aerobic exercise and those who do strength training?
1.People who engage in long-term aerobic exercise may see improvements in weight loss and body shape over time, but may end up with a less curvy figure. On the other hand, people who engage in long-term strength training may not see immediate weight loss results, but as their muscle mass increases, their basal metabolic rate will also increase, leading to gradual weight loss.
Over time, men who engage in strength training will develop a more muscular physique, while women will see improvements in their body proportions, such as a perkier butt and more defined waistline. Men can achieve impressive biceps and a V-shaped body, while women can achieve a defined hourglass figure.
2.Individuals who persist in doing aerobic exercise for a long time will experience some muscle loss and a decrease in basal metabolic rate as their body fat percentage decreases, making it more likely for them to regain weight after weight loss.
On the other hand, people who engage in long-term weightlifting training will see an increase in their muscle mass and basal metabolic rate, which means they will have an enviable lean physique and are less likely to gain weight.
3.Individuals who engage in long-term aerobic exercise will exercise their cardiovascular system, increase their lung capacity, strengthen their heart's pumping force, boost their immune system, and maintain a relatively youthful physical function.
Meanwhile, long-term weightlifting training can provide beneficial stimulation to the bones, aid calcium absorption, increase bone density, enhance walking strength, and improve overall body flexibility.
4.People who engage in long-term fitness exercises, whether aerobic exercise or strength training, can promote the secretion of dopamine, a chemical that creates pleasure in the body, drives away negative emotions, and helps maintain a positive and optimistic attitude, effectively enhancing stress resistance.
5.Individuals who engage in long-term aerobic exercise will have better endurance, enabling them to exercise for longer periods of time. Meanwhile, people who initially engage in strength training will have better explosive power, such as being able to jump higher and farther in sports, and will also have a stronger sense of physical strength.
